Childbirth Education 5-part Series

Tourmaline Childbirth Education Classes are every Wednesday with two different time options:
5-7pm or 7-:30-9:30 (subject to availability) 
 
Each class is limited to 6 couples because we want to be able to answer everyone’s questions and allow for an intimate experience for everyone!
Open to pregnant people & partners!
 

Class Descriptions:

Class #1 – Third Trimester & Labor Prep – What to do during pregnancy for a better and easier labor; connecting with partner & baby; understanding emotional stages of labor; fears and how to deal with them before delivery; pregnancy and labor physiology; and guided meditation; birth videos.

Class #2 – The power of affirmations in pregnancy, labor, and birth; understanding the physiology of the stages of labor; learn how you and your partner can work together as a team; when to go to your birthplace; the 3Rs of coping in labor; birth videos.

Class #3 – Comfort measures for labor & birth – learn the techniques doulas use to provide support during labor; hands on practice of comfort measures and positions for a great labor experience; what to expect during the golden hour (s) immediately postpartum; we’ll share all the resources you can utilize for a great postpartum experience; Informed consent discussion.

These first three classes will be taught by: Debbe Cannone, Julie Sears, and Marisa Tervoort

Class #4 – Newborn and Breastfeeding –Newborn appearances, diapering basics, benefits of breastfeeding, what an effective latch looks like, breastfeeding positions, learning how to determine if your baby is getting enough, when there is a need for supplementation, safe sleep, and physical postpartum changes. It will give you a sense of what to expect when your baby arrives.

Class #5 – Postpartum Care –The importance of physically healing from your birth and the essential priority of rest. Postpartum nutrition, changes in relationships – to self, partner, family, and friends as well as the importance of boundaries. Central to the postpartum period is a regulated nervous system which allows for secure attachment with baby and harmony within the home. This requires self-awareness, deep nourishment, balanced relationships, boundaries, and deep inner work.

The final two classes will be taught by: Brittney Schweim and Francesca Paretta
