A song of Labor…

Breathe your baby down,

Softly

Gently

She enters shaking

She sinks

He holds her

She stands

He walks with her

Water

Thirst

Heat

Relief

“Breathe the baby down”

Push lower

Three generations

A fourth is born

“Breathe the baby down”

She knows how to do this,

She knows how to birth this baby, whispers the wisest in the room.

Another rush….

She chants, between deep breathes

Press hard

Here it comes

Push harder

Bring that baby down

Keep resting…

It’s ok

It’s so painful

Its not painful

Breathe the baby down

She chants

She moves

Lucid

The room floats away

She snaps

Heavy sighs bring him closer….

She rests

Oh yikes….

another one

Oh fuck…

And she sinks

And she sings

A song

Of love

Of labor

She hums
